| Ways to get to the Valensole areas |
Between the end of June and the middle of July, lavender is in full bloom. This is the time to go to the Alpes de Haute-Provence near Manosque. The region near the village of Valensole is a renowned area for its endless lavender fields. Needless to say that it attracts hundreds of visitors from all over the world. It is truly a rare sight with a brief lifespan.

| A huge fragrant area |
This is not the only area where you can find lavender in Provence. There are other scenic places, in the Luberon for instance (Peter Mayle's country). But here lavender is grown on the Valensole plateau at an industrial scale.
'L'Occitane-en-Provence' factory is in the valley below near Manosque. On the plateau, some of the old villages are really worth a visit.
