A Day in Chonburi Province

At Bang Saen Beach
Chonburi is at about an hour;s drive from Bangkok via the expressway. The city of Chonburi is a rather industrial area and has nothing special to offer.
Pedicab

However, there is a mountain range nearby with a nice countryside all around. I stopped for lunch at a roadside Thai restaurant near the mountain and enjoyed the scenery and the surrounding countryside.

Bang Saen

As I was not too far from Bang Saen Beach, I decided to drive there.

Bang Saen Beach is a well-known resort mostly for people in Bangkok. There is a long stretch of sand fringed by palm trees. But it is very commercial. The water is as murky-looking as in Pattaya. Some more, there are areas near the rocks that are used as garbage dump. This is a rather depressing sight.

The coastal drive along the rocks in the direction of Chonburi is nice. It goes to a Chinese fishing village, where many monkeys can be seen.
